G. F. Handel: Concerto Op. 4, no. 3, in G Minor

Recorded on the Aeolian-Skinner organ at the Hyde Park Community Methodist Church, Cincinnati, Ohio; a recording of music from the inaugural recital, played by Wayne Fisher on Sept. 20, 1959.

Handel wrote his Organ Concerti to play (with the orchestra) during the intervals of performances of his operas in the theater in London. This one seems to be inspired more by Corelli than by Vivaldi. It has a rather pensive character, with a surprisingly quiet finish.

Wayne Fisher taught organ for many years at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music of the University of Cincinnati, and served as chairman of the organ department.
